What you should know about Michael A. Greene Antiques

Antiques in Woollahra

In 2013 we celebrated 35 years in business, a milestone that seemed to creep up on us very quickly. It doesn’t seem that long ago that Michael was trading out of two very insignificant spaces in London’s Portobello Road and Camden Passage. Today, our premises and stock are somewhat larger, but we work fair as hard in keeping our range as interesting as possible, sourcing goods locally and from around the world. We always keep a expansive range of old jewellery, including vintage and estate, as healthy as some contemporary pieces such as South Sea pearls. We have a good selection of antique sterling silver including pieces ideal for wedding and christening presents. We also sell appropriate porcelain, glass, furniture and collectors items from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries. Our objective is to have only pieces that represent appropriate workmanship and design and in a condition which has stood the test of time. We look forward to hearing from you, Michael and Victoria Greene.

They range from important to small, most are not engraved and so are suitable for engraving with your own inscription dedication. They make a gift truly special, an heirloom piece to be passed to the next generation. Depending on the local culture, the ring is usually used on the base of the left ring finger. Lockets usually retain only one or two photographs, but some specially made lockets can grip up to eight. Earring components may be made of any number of materials, including precious metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone, and other materials. Frequently, it is made in a decorative style, and is old as jewellery. There are many types of pearls, namely cultured, instinctive and imitation. It is usually made of metal, often silver or gold but sometimes bronze or some other material. Cufflinks are one of the few items of jewellery made especially for men. Candlesticks can be made in silver, bronze, timber, brass or glass and are an enduring gift which never goes out of style. Bronze is a metal alloy impaired to make skillful and durable object such as weapons and Armour, but as also lovely and decorative objects such as statuary, clocks and metals. As afternoon tea has become so fashionable, it would be our recommendation for a generous gift that would become a family heirloom for coming generations. We have an array of Irish made antiques from Irish silver to Irish themed goods. The photos under just show two examples of our Irish range. There are plenty of huge new items being made every day so what has started this complete movement of reusing preloved, older pieces? I asked around and found that for the most part, there are five main reasons why people are turning to antiques and collectibles over fresh store bought products. The history of a piece can be the difference between liking and LOVING an old piece. The smaller pieces you gather can also find their way into any style or fad with a little of styling knowledge and a refresh from time to time. There’s calm time though and there is an abundance of items in deposit that would make greats gifts. Here at Greene Antiques we grip unique collections for all ages and styles. All over the world, families and friends give presents to each other. The tradition has continued through the centuries until the donate day. We carry a expansive selection of signet rings in yellow and rose gold and sterling silver. From time to time we find worn rings that have never been engraved which are ideal for carving your family crest or initials.
